Wild Ginger.
Evergreen, creeping, rhizomatous perennial forming carpets of kidney-shaped, glossy, dark green leaves. Late spring flowers are small, bell-shaped, greenish purple and are concealed under the foliage. Prefers moderately fertile, moist but well drained, neutral to acid soil, in full or part shade. Fully hardy. The rhizomes are aromatic, smelling like ginger.
