Bronze New Zealand Hair Sedge
This ornamental grass is an evergreen perennial forming a dense tuft of narrowly linear, reddish-brown leaves, with inconspicuous brown flower spikes in late summer. Full sun or partial shade in any reasonable fertile, moist but well drained soil. Fully hardy.

Shorter form. Reddish plumes fade to silvery grey for winter. A good variety for drier soils as it has narrower leaves. Upright growth that arches as the flowers mature in September-October. The foliage a slightly dull green in summer but can turn brilliant purplish red inautumn.Fully Hardy. Full sun or part shade.

Produces cream-pink tinted bottlebrush blooms in late summer that persist well into autumn. A marvelous palette of oranges and reds appears in late autumn. In wintertime 'Cassian' skeletons look lovely coated in frost and dusted with snow. This grass was selected by Kurt Blumel and named after German horticulturalist Cassian Schmidt.
